You know how the story goes. Don’t you?

Boy meets girl. Eyes lock, they fall in love, live happily ever after.

Not this story.

Lacey baby, was what he called me. He said I was too young for him but who cares, we were both young. He stopped resisting and we fell in love.

I thought we were going to be forever. We were. Until the unthinkable happened savagely ripping through us, ripping us apart, and forever turned in to never.

He was gone. I was left to pick up the shredded pieces. Punished for the life inside me I couldn’t give up. the very thing I didn’t know would bring me out of darkness years later, could be the very thing that brings us together again for a second chance.

If we can only survive the ripple effects of the pain of the past and what lies ahead…

Josh craves Caitlin and all she has to offer. However, he is a man with secrets. He has worked hard to overcome his tragic past, but he’s afraid to risk having a future because he knows trouble is never very far away. When a selfless act brings that trouble to his door, he stands to lose everything he cares about—including Caitlin. Will her love and the healing magic of Eternity Springs be enough to save him?

What a lovely title. I love spring. And I loved this book. As I come to realize with my second experience with Emily March’s Eternity Springs series, there is something special and magical in these stories that keeps me glued to the page.

It seldom happens to me, but sometimes I come across a book that awakens that love at first sight thing within me. And this was such a book. I loved both Caitlin and Josh’s characters from the very first moment, I remembered this whimsical town and the quirky community, sat back and enjoyed the ride. It was funny, it was sexy, it was heartbreaking. I’m not talking the ending, just the journey. I really enjoyed being back in Eternity Springs. Wouldn’t mind going back there again sometime.

Release Day e-ARC Review ~ Maybe This Time by Nicole McLaughlin

Book: Maybe This Time (Whiskey and Weddings #2)

Author: Nicole McLaughlin

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release: February 27, 2018 | St. Martin’s Press

Jen Mackenzie has been knocked down more than a few times, but she always gets up and makes sure she has the last word. It’s the reason she now considers herself equal parts self-sufficient and free-spirit. But since losing her job and trying to help her mother beat cancer, real life―and her occasional careless choices―have begun to catch up with her. Her one saving grace: The Stag, a boutique distillery that has become Kansas City’s go-to wedding venue. The only catch: One of the owners, TJ Laughlin, happens to be the one man who somehow manages to make Jen feel inadequate.

TJ has secretly had a thing for Jen since high school. Now, as her new boss, it’s a daily struggle between revealing his feelings and wringing her beautiful neck. Only one thing is for certain: he can’t stand idly by and watch the woman he cares for struggle. She may be convinced that accepting TJ’s help is a weakness. But all he sees in Jen is beauty and strength, inside and out. As things finally heat up between them, can TJ find a way to convince Jen that love is about give and take―and having it all, together?

This book reminded me why I love a good ol’ romance to make me feel better. From awkward high school crushes to office relationships this book hit all my buttons.

Jen and TJ didn’t exactly start out as friends but acquaintances, having known each other from their high school years. And though they’ve both been a little in love with one another since then, they never acted on their feelings. The point where we’re involved in the book is where TJ is Jen’s boss and they’re still back and forth with their feelings. TJ is still put together as ever, and Jen is still the smartass who gives him a hard time.

What I loved most about this book was that neither TJ nor Jen came on too strong concerning their romance. They were both hesitant at times, and forward when they needed to be. That balance about their working relationship as boss/employee was most fun for me to read.
