He’s a rockstar, she’s a ballerina, they’re worlds apart yet just what the other needs.
Jordan Steele’s life began when he was ten. When he was taken from his parents and a house that was never a home. When he met his brothers, the other lost and abandoned boys in his group home. When he learned what friendship and family and love looked like.
Now he’s made a career out of playing the music he loves, touring the world with the band he and his brothers formed in that crowded group home. No one but his found family really knows the man under the fame and fortune, the scars he hides behind the rockstar lifestyle. Until he sees her through the windows of the National Ballet, dancing, and suddenly the world doesn’t seem so dark.
Aleksandra Artemov ticks all the ballet boxes. Father a legendary Kirov dancer. Check. Prepping since birth for classical ballet. Check. Compulsive control over the food she eats. Check. Principal dancer at The National Ballet of Canada. Check. But what she craves is freedom.
She craves Jordan.
Everything about him should terrify her. His size, his tattoos, his hard rock edge. But he doesn’t. He stirs her very soul. Jordan has nothing but himself to offer her, and he’s never been good enough for anyone. Can he figure out how to face his own demons before he loses his light for good?
I don’t know if you’re familiar with Scarlett Cole’s writing, but if you’re not, I suggest you start making that happen. I met with her characters first in her Second Circle Series, and then it was one big case of inseparable love. It was about a group of people who had a tattoo parlor. JORDAN RECLAIMED is the first book of the spin-off series that I’ve anxiously been waiting for because I wished for it. Badly. Preload series is about the members of a metal band, guys who come from foster care, and ever since I met them, I’ve been wishing for books of their own.
All the fangirling aside, I love these series-and this book- because they deal with some serious, real life issues that I find myself enjoying reading about, surprisingly. I thought they’d be heavy for me, especially in a romance, but it works. Scarlett Cole blends these difficult experiences very nicely with a sexy romance. In the end, you’re left with fat tears in your eyes that only fall when something sweet or silly happens to make you laugh. It’s the best part of these books. Heavy, but not just with drama, with love and fun as well.
If you’re okay with slightly heavier themes in your romances-never too overwhelming, mind you- then I think you’d like to spend time with these people.
I’m adding four spoonfuls of this story into my hodgepodge.
