Can a love built on secrets survive?

Rugged, hot, and rock hard, Dred Zander is exactly the type of man that normally sends Pixie running. Not dreaming about running her hands down his washboard abs…and lower. The lead singer and guitarist for the band Preload embodies trouble behind his quick smile and guarded eyes, and Pixie left trouble behind her years ago along with the name Sarah Jane Travers and the pathetic trailer her mom called home. With her abusive past in her past, she has a new life, a new family at Second Circle, and a dream of opening her own business. She needs capital and time. What she doesn’t need is a tempting long-haired rocker or the paparazzi that follow him around.

But Dred has other ideas. Pixie’s sweet hazel eyes, purple hair and kaleidoscopic tattoo of exotic flowers that swirl up her arm haunt his dreams, and he knows she wants him too. He just has to convince her. But as a juicy exposé threatens to expose their pasts, and a blackmailer terrorizes their present, Pixie and Dred have to decide what really matters and fight like hell to keep it.

HodgepodgeReview

It’s been a while since I had that special feeling of not being able to put a book down, of thinking about it constantly, wanting to get back to it that I thought I lost my touch with that part of the pleasure of reading. This book though, it reminded me that yeah, I still had that spark. Because, damn, I just simply couldn’t stop thinking about this book, about all the characters in it.

If you’ve already read the previous books, you know who Dred and Pixie are, and how they already had a chemistry going on. If you haven’t, well, I strongly suggest you go back and get them all and start reading, not because it needs to be read in order-though I think it’s best enjoyed that way- but because you’re seriously missing out on some great reading experience. I’ve loved this series from the very first book, and every new one is cause for accelerated heartbeats and over the top excitement. No kidding.

I don’t want to say much about the story simply because I wish you’d experience it on your own, but just wanted to say that this is a story of two broken souls who piece themselves, and eventually each other, back together in a beautiful and heartwarming tale. I don’t think there are enough words to describe how much I loved and appreciated Pixie and Dred as both individuals and as a couple. There are lessons to be leaned in here, that’s for sure. Their strength against the things they had endured and still faced during the story was admirable.

Apart from Pixie and Dred’s inspiring path towards freedom and happiness, I also found myself incredibly taken by some of the other characters, namely Dred’s bandmates. When I’ve read the previous books, I had no idea about the depth of Dred’s character, which of course is the idea, and so I paid no attention at all to the fact that Dred’s band was made up of more than just him. Reading this story though, I’m overwhelmed by the intensity to get to know them all better, to know their stories, and yeah, to read them find the kind of freedom Dred and Pixie had found with each other. And I’m not just talking about a passionate love story, but a sense of belonging and safety that they can find with someone who hadn’t shared it with them in the first place. I truly hope their stories will be a part of Scarlett Cole’s writing career, otherwise I don’t know how I will fare knowing I won’t know these guys any deeper.

A brilliant addition to an already touching series, I strongly recommend this book. Hell, with this whole series, you won’t be disappointed. That’s a Lady Myst guarantee, that’s how much I enjoy and look forward to them.

I’m adding five big spoonfuls of this story into my hodgepodge. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to be alone with my thoughts to relive some of the sweetest moments from this book while I sip a nice, warm cup of tea. Either that, or delve into a tub of ice cream, haven’t decided yet.
