Can’t make time for love?
The Shaughnessy brothers have spent the years since their mother’s untimely death taking care of each other and trying to make their father proud. Oldest son Aidan is hard-working, handsome, successful—and still single. Sure, he’d like to have his own family someday, but who has the time?

She’ll show him how to find it

Zoe Dalton, a stunning designer Aidan meets on one of his construction jobs, has the beauty and heart to make Aidan realize how much he could be missing. But it’s not easy to break down walls you’ve spent years building up. Now there’s a major storm bearing down on the North Carolina coast, and it could be catalyst enough to force Aidan and Zoe into some major decisions of the heart.

HodgepodgeReview

If there’s something I like as much as small town romances-and I like them a lot– it is a good ol’ family saga. Add to that a pretty cover and a promising plot, and hopefully I got myself a recipe for good romance.

Although I liked this book, there were still a few things that didn’t sit well with me. For starters, Aiden is introduced as a workaholic control freak who lacks in the romance department. I could see and like that, but only if he made some solid progress. He was all of the above from beginning to end, and then he said and did some really hurtful things to Zoe, and although I’m all for making mistakes only to atone for them later, I thought some of those things were pretty harsh. And that’s where I lost a bit of my connection with Zoe because I would’ve preferred she not caved so easily.

To be so honest, Aiden and Zoe weren’t as strong as I would’ve liked as the main characters. Their romance felt rushed in the almost teenage like way they handled things. Zoe, though portrayed as a hard worker serious young woman, didn’t convince me with the way she reacted to some bad luck coming her way. And Aiden, a creature of habit, was not convincing at all with his obsessive objection towards change, which included Zoe spending time with his family. Now, there was a reason behind it of course, there was a reason behind everything, but the author seemed to scratch the surface with them.

HodgepodgeReview

Who’s up for a second chance story going hand in hand with a contemporary sports romance? Well, if you’re one of the awesome people who raised their hands and made room in their never ending to-read shelf, then you’ll love this one.
I’ve known and loved Alison Packard’s FEELING THE HEAT series for a while now, and I couldn’t help but jump at the chance to read this book. You know, for purely professional reasons, for you guys who follow the updates about the making of the hodgepodge, and not for the crazy chick inside me who loves men of sports, later daydreams about snagging one and hogs the tv for any matches. Nope.

I didn’t read that many second chance romances, and the last few ones I’ve read were about couples where one of them already loved and lost, for good. So, though I loved those previous books, Katie and Tom’s relationship was like a breath of fresh air for me. They were friends and lovers in their teens, and reading about them rekindling their passion and remembering good old times was, what can I say, romantic. I’ve always had a soft spot for friends to lovers and bickering couples, and this story had a little bit of both which was another bonus for me.

Thanks to an abusive father and a string of bad relationships, Riley McCage learned the hard way that people are not kind without a reason. Now, after landing a job at popular gay bar Pot O Gold, Riley is on the right track–until the night Boxer finds him drunk and drugged in the back room of an exclusive sex party.

Donald “Boxer” Boxwood wasn’t looking for anything beyond some casual kink until he peeled Riley off the floor and gave him a safe place to stay. But there’s something compelling about the guy crashing on his couch, and the two forge an instant friendship that eases into unmistakable attraction. Despite Riley’s hesitancy, Boxer knows one thing to be true: he needs Riley in his life.

Riley risked everything to run away and build a new life for himself, and his secrets aren’t something he’d ever wish upon his kind, gentle new friend. But when the past comes to call, he’ll have no choice but to put his trust in Boxer…and believe people can change enough to deserve a second chance.

HodgepodgeReview

It’s not up to me to say, and certainly wouldn’t be fair, that among this tight group of friends, Boxer was the one who deserved happiness the most. But I can say he was my favorite. He was kind, helpful, understanding. The best way to describe him would be that he was one of those guys who are just too good to be true. The fact that he’s a fictional character, well, you just need to overlook that for the time being.

The second book in the Restoration series was definitely so much better than the first one. The first one, I got into knowing nothing and expecting more by the time I finished, whereas in this book, everything was pretty damn close to perfect. There was an excellent balance of romance, emotions and growth. The heroes found strength in each other and stood up for one another. Boxer’s teddy bear personality meshed so nicely with Riley’s silent courage. And the kink.. Oh, the sex was hot by the way, if I hadn’t mentioned it before, you know, in case you’re wondering.

HodgepodgeReview

As is the case with pretty much everyone I’m sure, I was delighted to be right in my hope and prediction for the third book of More Than A Game series. This book, I loved. There was a lovely romance that pushed all my right buttons, a good emotional balance between the hero and the heroine, and an added bonus of children-god, I love stories that involve children and the whole being a family thing.

The story starts with a bang and we delve right into circumstances. Though things may seem rushed, the story actually had a very good pace. Everything happened at the right time, leaving me very well satisfied with how things progressed and how feelings evolved.
