She lives by the book—and is still searching for her happily ever after.

Darcy Wilde has tried hard not to live up to her last name. As a librarian in Atlanta she lives a fine life far away from the football-obsessed town of her childhood. But when her beloved Grandmother needs help, Darcy takes a leave of absence and heads back to the home and past she left behind.

He knows how to play the field—and is in no rush to settle down.

Robbie Dalton knows a thing or two about painful pasts. After bouncing around in foster care and the Army for years he is finally ready to move on and make a home for himself in Falcon, Alabama as the newest high school football coach. Sparks fly when the sexy new coach and the sharp-tongued librarian meet, but neither of them is looking to make ties.

But when it comes to love, sometimes you’ve gotta throw away the rule book to cross the finish line…

Everything changes when Darcy falls in love, not only with the gruff, protective, and smoking hot man who’s sharing her days and nights, but also with the complex tapestry of people who weave Falcon together. Could this be where she belongs – and who she belongs with?

As a lover of sports romance, it was no wonder I wanted to give this book a try. Though the hero was not an active player, he was coaching a high school team and that’s enough to get my attention. And the heroine? A librarian. What a dream job. I wouldn’t have minded working in a library, being around books all day to come home to a gorgeous coach at night.

Darcy Wilde, as opposed to her last name, lives a serene, simple life. She isn’t a fan of her hometown, but then, a lot of people feel the same about where they come from. And Darcy didn’t have a usual childhood, dealing with the usual teenager problems, and not having the conventional family life, she had justified reasons to stay away.
I liked Darcy. Apart from having the job I secretly wish I had, she was lively, funny and not at all a big city girl. She had a good example of character in her grandmother, and I enjoyed their encounters. I think Darcy was one of those people who unwillingly invite trouble into their lives. I only wish we could’ve spent a little bit more time in the library with Darcy, sniffing books and caressing their covers, but hey, I can always do that with my own bookcase. I’m not sure if it’d be as satisfying as actually being in a big library, but I can learn to settle.

Why oh why, do I have to choose books lately that first break my heart a little, even though they later put the pieces back together? To this one and to all that came before it, let me dedicate this song to you, Quit Playing Games With My Heart by Backstreet Boys-and I so used to love that song!

It’s been two books by Sawyer Bennett for me, and by now I’ve learnt my lesson not to expect anything just too simple from her. I should’ve known I was in for something more, but next time, I’m definitely more prepared. What anyone might think as a fun sports romance was more emotional, more real, much deeper than you can imagine, and-maybe not so unexpectedly- sexy and romantic. The first book I already liked a lot, but perhaps because of the subject matter, or the characters in general, this one was a step further than that.
