Can you turn the clock back on your first love? Would you even want to try?

Alex McCann and Teodora “Ted” Vasquez left Cambio Springs together. Ted came back. Alex didn’t.

Now, years later, the future alpha of the McCann wolves has returned with plans to bring new life to the dying desert community. Plans that could change everything for the isolated enclave of shapeshifters in the California desert. Some love the plan. Others hate it.

As the town’s doctor and one of the strongest daughters in the cat clan, Ted has her own concerns about exposing her community to outsiders. The two former lovers are at each other’s throats. And everyone is watching to see what happens.

But when murder once again strikes Cambio Springs, can they overcome their past to help the community they both call home? And can the love they shared once burn again when so many stand against it?

Before I get to my review, I just need the answer to this one important question, like yesterday. When is the new book out? And since the answer to that question is not going to be ‘hey, it’s already out, here you go’, this’ll bring me to another important question, which is how the hell am I going to wait until the new book comes out. But you’re not interested in that story, so let’s move on with my review.

Since this was the second book, and I’m obsessed with series reading order, I read the first one before this, and I was so immersed in the story and the characters and the world building in general, that I didn’t even pause for a second before I picked up this one, let alone wait to write a review. It was that good. Cambio Springs is like a dream come true for me since it mixes paranormal elements with small town romance which are two things I like to read about the most. A small town full of shifters of all kinds and lots of action and smokin’ hot romance. I’d ask what can a gal want more, but we all know the answer to that is one of her own. And I know you’re probably not interested in this story either. But you should be interested in Desert Bound. In this whole series.

This story paired up an alpha wolf with a headstrong mountain lion, and it was, in a single word, perfect. In more words, it was sexy, exciting, full of good characters and an interesting plot, it included action and not a little bit of claws and blood loss. So far, both books even had their own murder mystery, which was even more fulfilling to someone like me who likes a good crime story. It was nice to see this combined with a sexy romance, there wasn’t even one moment when I was bored, there just wasn’t time for that. If I wasn’t wondering who killed the victim, I was curious about who was turning into what, and if that wasn’t enough, I was looking forward to read Alex wooing Ted, and when that was about done, I was distracted by potential love affairs and past couple updates. What can I say? There’s never a dull moment in Cambio Springs.

So basically, read this series. If you like shifters, or a good murder mystery, a sexy solid romance, small town stories, kickass heroes and heroines, then this series is your thing. This is the first time I’m reading something by Elizabeth Hunter, but I’m already making plans to grab her other works. I gotta find a way to make busy until the next book after all.

I’m adding five big-and I mean shifter worthy big- spoonfuls of this exciting and sexy romance into my hodgepodge. Should I pester Elizabeth Hunter about the whereabouts of Cambio Springs now, or should I wait a while longer?
