I wanted to squeeze in another book in between this series, I really did. But it’s hard to do that when you’re dying to know the next couple and their story. So I guess I’ll be sticking around in Lucky Harbor a little bit more. At least until I finish the adventures of the Chocoholic Girls. Even then, I feel like there’s no guarantee.
This one told the story of badass waitress Amy, and the town’s very own Ranger Hot Buns-man, I loved that nickname! Amy was different than the previous women of this series, she was more of a closed box than the others. She had a past she wanted to keep only to herself, which is something I kinda started to expect from this town’s hero and/or heroines, and she wanted nothing to do with no man. That was, of course, bound to change because this isn’t Lucky Harbor for nothing, seems like everyone’s bound to get lucky-can you hear me snickering? Seriously though, where’s that van I hired? Who knows, maybe a hot forest ranger might come to my rescue if I ever get lost.
I had an inkling Amy had a few issues of her own when she constantly refused to speak about herself or her strange relationship with ranger Matt. Although, from the hints in the previous book I expected theirs to be something more than it actually was, maybe that they had a thing going on but things got in the way. But it wasn’t the case. Amy and Matt shared an attraction towards each other, that was for sure, but neither made much attempt to take it further until circumstances, and sexual frustration probably, forced them to.
I liked the way their story was handled, having gone from no-strings-attached sex to something deep and meaningful. They both thought they neither wanted nor needed the relationship, but the more time they spent together, they realized how wrong they’d been. I like that kind of enlightenment. Things build up in the romantic sense and you hold your breath until the moment when it finally happens and you can relax. It was sweet. And both characters were so sweet too. I loved Matt’s easygoing ways, and Amy’s tough girl persona. They made a good match, a very sexy one too.
A lovely addition to the collection of love affairs of Lucky Harbor, and now it’s time for the doctor to fall and play nurse. And I have to tell you, I can not wait for that what with a little boy and the responsibility of a sister. It’s as if he’s hitting all the right spots in my heart with each of those details!
Let me quickly add four spoonfuls of this sweet story into my hodgepodge and then I’ll try my hand at cookies for Dr. Scott’s little boy. You think there’s any chance for me to sway his affections from Grace? No? I didn’t think so. But I can always stuff my face with cookies!
