It’s been now, twenty four hours since I finished this book. And one would think, with all my excitement to see how things were going to continue after the cliffhangers and how they were going to end, how much I wanted to devour it despite its size, and the much engaging plotline that filled every single page with a new surprise, it’d be easy to come up with a review. But no. Turns out, when you love and enjoy a book or a series as I did this one, you have a hard time conjuring the words to say how much.

I wasn’t going to stop for a review, now that I’m onto the last book in this series and the whole notion of cliffhangers is my annoying enemy, but I realized I have to say something about this book and get my frustration out.

The fourth installment in the Fever series, Dreamfever started off a little bit different from the previous books. The last we seen our heroine Mac, she was captured by her archenemy and was forced to live through a horror that I wish for no woman. I don’t need to sum it all up for those who know the story anyway, and for those who don’t know, did I say before how much they’re missing out not reading this series? Well, a lot. So if you’ve stumbled upon this book somehow, and this review, for the love of all that is good and holy, go back to the first and start from the beginning and just read them! Can I use Voice? Do I dare?

Talk about ‘worth waiting for’. With Macrieve, Kresley Cole delivers yet another blow to the mind, catching you off guard just how much an author can do with a tormented past and less than a hopeful future. When you think about it, I guess it might seem easy enough, a tortured past threatens the hero’s future happiness, but yeah, it’s not that easy. And god, the themes that are touched in this book..I especially love it when a story handles a particularly difficult theme so well. It’s not for everyone I tell you, but those who’re good, they do justice. And Kresley Cole? Yeah, she does justice.

I don’t know why I insist on having the good books age on my bookshelves. Thanks to the excitement for the publication of the new Immortals After Dark book, I remembered I had this one stacked away and wanted to give it a go while I waited. A pat on the back for me!

For those of you who’re familiar with the Immortals After Dark series, this might be considered as a spin off. We’re still in the same world, only this time we follow the sexy Dacians, a breed of vampire who closed themselves up in their land of Shadow and Mist where nobody comes in unless they’re invited, and nobody comes out unless they’re permitted. They got some serious security issues though of course things are about to change.

I think among all the Lucky Harbor books, with the exception of the good ol’ sheriff of course, this was my favorite. I don’t know what it was that attracted me so, perhaps it was that the hero was a family man, or that he was well and truly weary that he made me want to give him a hug or more. Whatever it was, this book was one I enjoyed a lot.
